While poking around in my wine storage cabinet I came across a little jar of black truffles that I bought in Italy in 2007 and was amazed to see that they are still good! The date on the jar is 31/12/10! These babies have some serious shelf life!
I also found a jar of "Salsa Tartufata, Mushroom & Truffles Sauce", and this one has a date on it of 31/12/2009. That's not too long ago and it has been under temperature controlled conditions in my wine cabinet. I am torn between the urge to eat it and the fear of being poisoned! So...just wondering if anyone would have any knowledgeable input on such a substance and how critical that little date might be?
