I hop t his isn't too ghoulish for folks, but it occurred to me that many of our best are gone. Apart from the obvious (Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn), which are the best who are no longer with us?
I will go with Rory Gallagher and Roy Buchanan.

I heard a song on the radio with this incredible guitarist and the group was great in general. The song went on and on and I kept waiting to hear who it was. It wound up it was the Allman Brothers Band. I rushed out to buy it. 2 weeks later Dwayne Allman was dead.
And of course I remember where I was when the greatest rock guitar player of all time, Jimi Hendrix, died.
