Well, we did dine at Boca, on the recommendation of someone we met this past week. I will say the cuisine was divine. Butternut squash to start, followed by potato gnocchi with truffle and porcini, followed by short ribs, followed by creme brulee. A GD Vajra Albe to go with our courses, some vin santo to finish...a near perfect evening altogether.
What made it flat out perfect was the waiter approached the table at the end of the evening and told us that someone had called and wanted to pay for the entire tab--wine, grat, everything--and that person was the very same someone who told us to dine there! Wow! What a pleasant surprise and what a gracious gesture. I'm just humbled more than anything....
Great story. I lived in Cinci for two years, and in my opinion, Boca is the only fine dining in the city. Through a great connection in Cinci, celebrated pianist Awadagin Pratt, we developed a nice relationship with the restaurant and was able to bring our own bottles regularly. Great food and the venue where I enjoyed my first 89 Lynch-Bages. Wow.

Awadagin Pratt graduated from Peabody here in Baltimore. Heard him with the Baltimore Symphony. Wonderful musician.

But, on the main thread topic, what a nice gesture. Nice to meet people like that.

He's a great guy as well, passionate about wine, cigars and fine cognac. What's not to like?
