WS 87; Winetex 88-89 $33
The Pierre Leon is one of several Pinots from Willakenzie in Oregon. It has a nice nose of cherries and spice with red and black cherries and an earthiness in the middle. The mouthfeel on this wine is really nice, somewhat of a silky texture. Not elegant but balanced. It is perhaps about $5 overpriced but still less than many Pinots that are not as good.
Info from our local store, Specs, on this wine, Pierre Leon is an estate-grown selection of 6 clones. Fermentation included 30% whole-clusters with 21 days of skin contact and the finished wine was aged in 60% new oak. I'll probably try the others because this one was good.
