99% syrah, 1% viognier from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Inky black. Aroma of magic marker and blackberry jam. Full bodied, 14.2% abv, slightly viscous, with violets, black cherry puree, figs and a touch of cocoa and white pepper. Not tannic, this is a very modern rendition of the varietal, with medium acidity. Aged for 15 months in French oak. Unctuous, with a lactic note. Tons of sediment. It finishes with medium length and a peppery tone.
