This wine exemplifies what is truly exciting about the 2002 vintage of California Chardonnay. From the wines that I've had from this vintage, I completely agree with Wine Spectators 99 point rating. The wine is all about balance. Its richness and decadence is delicately balanced with an intense band of fruit and acidity. It is this wonderful balance which, in my opinion, makes this vintage so exciting. The hedonistic tropical fruits and apple are ripe and racy, but complemented by a wealth of acacia, hazelnut and honey. None dominates as all contribute to a wonderful wash of flavors. There is just a bit of yeast and minerality on the finish. This is truly exciting Chardonnay for this price.
