Barbera d'Asti Superiore 2001 (La Spinetta): This is Spinettas' basic Barbera and it did not disappoint. Very dark purple, on the nose it shows notes of vanilla, blueberry and cherry. Full-bodied with maybe a bit too much new oak, but balanced by a crispy, fresh acidity. Slightly coarsegrained tannins. Long finish. 89 P.

Coonawarra Basket Pressed 1998 (Highbank): This is an Aussie Pauillac! Very nice, complex nose with cassis and graphite. Great structure and elegance with layers of red fruits. Long, a bit warm finish: 92 P.

Riesling Auslese Ürziger Würzgarten 1994 (Dr. Loosen): Nice golden colour. Notes of petrol and mango on the nose. Dense and creamy with granny smith apples and sweet mango notes, juicy acidity: 90 P.
