100% Tuscan sangiovese grosso. Medium purple color. Soft aromas of earth and coffee. Medium/full bodied, 13.5% abv. Stern, with sour cherries, black plums, quince jam, damp earth. Not a ton of fruit, this is a backward wine. Aged for one year in new oak vats. Old World, classy, understated, serious. A whiff tannic, close to peak drinking. Medium finish with a note of black tea. I liked it.
