TN: Paraiso Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2007

100% pinot noir from Monterey County. Medium ruby red color. Aroma of roasted fruit and orange peel. A tad hot at 14.1% abv. Raspberry jam, lots of smoke, ripe cherries, scorched earth and cola. Good acidity. The oak is noticeable, the wine is aged in barrel for 18 months. Not tannic, this is not an ager. Shortish finish.

I agree with the initial part of your note, but the bottle I had about two weeks ago was lacking in acidity and somewhat dominated by tannin. My cellartracker note mentions letting my other bottles sit at least six months.

I gave it 89 pts, but thought it was an excellent QPR at $18
