NV Weingut Klaus Zimmerling Spätburgunder Brut Sekt - Germany, Sachsen (6/16/2018)[/i]
I purchased a bottle in 2016 for $35 at the winery but this was not available for tasting. Klaus Zimmerling does not export any of his wines to the US which is a shame. 100% Pinot Noir aged 3 years on it's lees. We tried this after 2 completely dry wines and even though this is a Brut, it came off as sweeter at first. However, by the 2nd glass it tasted appropriate for a Brut. Quite unique. Floral nose. Notes of licorice, chamomile, slate and yeast. Fuller bodied with a creamy texture. I've noticed that flavor profile in one other German Sekt (the 2012 Jean Stodden BdN Sekt) and find it very desirable. 92 points.
