TN: NV André Clouet Champagne 1911 (95/96/97)

NV André Clouet Champagne 1911 (95/96/97) - France, Champagne (6/20/2018)[/i]

Opened by Redhawk. The name of the wine references the Champagne riots in 1911 and the fact that only 1911 bottles are made. 100% Grand Cru. 100% Pinot Noir. The grapes for this bottle were sourced from the 1995 (25%), 1996(50%) and 1997(25%) vintages. Very fresh and lively. You would never guess that this was 20 years old. Loaded with citrus fruit. Notes of almonds and chalk as well. Aggressive bead. Charming finish. I had the 98/99/00 blend of this wine back in 2007 and this bottle was far superior. 95 points.

Thought you would like to know that the Village Corner in Ann Arbor, MI has this.

RFS-3337. ANDRE CLOUET BOUZY GRAND CRU UN JOUR DE 1911 BRUT CHAMPAGNE
100% Grand Cru estate Bouzy Pinot Noir cuvee of 1995 (25%), 1996 (50%), and 1997 (25%) vintages; hand-riddled; disgorged 9/5/16; 1911 bottles of this Champagne produced. Enjoyed 12/31/16, our bottle convincingly belied its age, showing great freshness, balance, very fine and persistent mousse./ So complex, so much finesse, So well preserved. Ultra suave mousse. Nut, toast, grain. Enough integrity. A great treasure! 98/100. Straw-wrapped presentation with booklet.
How Many bottles/singles: 69.95 each

IW- thanks for posting that info from the Village Corner. I couldn't find any info on the producers website about the disgorgement date and now see that is was Sept. 2016. That makes perfect sense. I thought this was a late disgorged bottle. It certainly tasted like one. I am a huge fan of late disgorged champagne. I find that you get the complexity of an aged champagne combined with the freshness of a new vintage.

The thing that confused me is that there are TN's on CT going back to 2011 on this wine so Clouet must have had multiple disgorgement dates for his 1911 bottles. Perhaps Redhawk can chime in and let us know when he bought it.
