At $8.99 per bottle, This was a pleasant surprise. Light to medium and fruity and reminiscent of a sangiovese, but the fruit was more cherry than raspberry. Some fine tannins give it a nice structure. A fuller mouth-feel than a sangiovese. The nose was fruit with nice support from, what, oak? or just tannins, I don't know. It didn't spend a lot of time in oak, maybe 3-6 months, if any.
Nice value find. I just found that the grape is Nero d'avola, but it doesn't have the body or complexity of, for example, the Morgante nero d'avola.
