Wow...a great example of easy, currently approachable CNP from the 98 vintage; has a bit more Syrah than usual from a CNP; decanted 1 hour before dinner; medium-to-full body with moderate tannins; easy to drink with out food, but even better with red meat; aromas of game, leather, berries, and earth; the finish last for about 20-30 seconds; texture of smooth, silkly gylercin (SP?); a mild hint of spicy; very tempting now but wait another 5-8 years; IMO 89-91; $86 at restaurant which had 100% mark up;

J bembry,

Here is what RP says:

89 Points - Robert Parker
"The 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape La Bernardine offers a sweet perfume of jammy black cherries, cassis, licorice, and minerals, moderate tannin, medium to full body, and excellent ripeness as well as flesh. It will age well for 10-12 years. "

I think WS gives it a 87. Some friends claim that both scores are a tad too low. They say it is more more like 90-91.

At $27 for a 99 CNP, it is definitely worth a buy.
