An auction purchase which caught my attention since this wine is generally not available in the US. 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino from San Casciano in Val di Pesa. Skin contact for 20 days. Aged 18 months in used French oak. Paired with Rigatoni all’Amatriciana which my wife made with guanciale which a friend found at a local butcher shop. Solid cork. An aromatic wine with floral and lavender aromas. A dry and not overly fruity wine. Notes of iron and dried cherries. Integrated tannins. 90 points.
