Opened by a friend. I last had this at the winery in 2016 and was excited to try this again. This is a monopole vineyard for Adeneuer which they purchased 308 years ago. I believe this is the smallest classified vineyard in Germany at 7000 sq. meters. A steeply sloped terraced vineyard. This wine is made from 80 year old vines. 2012 was a fantastic year. This wine did not disappoint. Not decanted. Crimson color. Drier than the Meyer Nakel we drank next to it. A mineral driven wine with firm tannins and a fuller body. Round texture with a feminine profile. Notes of black cherries, plum and tobacco. Elegant long finish. Iit is a shame this wine is not imported to the US. Luckily, I have 1 bottle left in my cellar. 97 points.
