I had been wanting to try one of these for awhile. And very glad that I did, even though it was baby killing.

An amazing nose of strawberry, cranberry and rhubarb that just explodes out of the glass. These flavors carry through on the palate, in a more restrained manner, along with refined tannins and nicely balanced acidity. The tannins linger in a finish that just won't stop. This is very pleasurable now, but patience will reward those who wait. With it's fruit, tannins and acidity, this has the potential to be screaming good in 5+ years.

Interesting note. Thanks! I've been on the mailing list since the '04 release, and while I think these wines are short term cellar-worthy (up to 5 years) to pull together, I don't really think they will improve with age. More than anything they will trade out lush fruit for secondary character and be "different". Of course time will tell. I'll have to pull one of these and give it a try. Even the '04 SBC (their best wine I've had yet), which I think could improve, may not be any better than it is now. The primary fruit in these wines is very lush and forward, despite their mild/moderate backbones.
