• 2005 Pisoni Pinot Noir - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (8/1/2008)
Dinner at Marché Moderne. Decanted for 1 1/2 hours and tasted over a couple of hours. Stunning aromas of blueberries, black raspberries, dark chocolate, ground espresso. The mouth is less impressive, however, with good ripe cherry and raspberry fruit, but with a touch of bitter tree bark and some heat. I suspect that the wine might be starting to shut down as it was not as extroverted as the last time I tasted it (about 5 months ago). It did happen to go quite well with pork belly and pork cheeks, however. 90-91 points. (90 pts.)
