2004 Ramey Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Carneros (7/10/2008)
I think this wine needs a year or two to really show all its potential. It needed quite some time to open up (the oak was a little too intrusive at the beginning). Powerful smoky nose with hazelnut (for once this is not butterscotch!), melon and refreshing lemon notes. Full body, same as on the nose, long finish with a velvety mouthfeel.
The alcohol shows a little bit too much for me but overall a very nice wine. (91 pts.)
