2003 Tenuta Sette Ponti Nero d'Avola Saia - Italy, Sicily, Sicilia IGT (11/1/2006)

Tasted at VinItalyUSA in Chicago last week. 100% Nero d'Avolo. I have had the Crognolo and Oreno wines from Sette Ponti in the past but never the Saia. The Crognolo and Oreno are from Tuscany while the Saia is made in Sicily. I thought the 2 Tuscan wines were much better. This wine had a soapy nose. Dry texture around a core of red fruit. Needed depth to score higher. 88-89 points.
