It's always fun to drink Shiraz. When I drink 2003 Mitolo Shiraz G.A.M, I almost felt I was eating blueberry+vanila flavored pancake. That was so delicious.

Lots of mineral character in the wine.Very focused perfume of crushed blueberries and a hint of cassis, graphite, stones, almost jam-like black fruits in the middle, very refined texture, sharp acidity,a nuance of bitter vanila syrup, some heat on the finish. 93pts

I'm not sure if the wine is capable of aging well due to the extremely ripeness.

2003 Mitolo McLaren Vale Shiraz G.A.M. -- a powerhouse! Inky-dark purple in the decanter, looks like a barrel sample; after a couple of hours of air, releases big nose of berry, violets, nutmeg, cinnamon; tight but showing deep fruit, blueberry, black licorice, plum, hint of pepper, smoke, no heat at all from 15.5% alc., just stomps on the midpalate; very long finish (no surprise) with lots of tannin and fruit. In the 95 pt. range. I have no idea how long this wine will last, but it's quite plush now due in part to fairly low acidity, so I'm going drink mine sooner rather than later, say over the next 5-6 years.
Open bottle 6 hours before serving. Dark purple color. Wonderfully soft aromas of blackberry, blueberry, flowers, vanilla, and a touch of white pepper. Ripe fruits give way to sweet entry, graphite, and coffee perfume. Super full body, dense but soft texture like cotton ball, super extracted yet nuance on palate. Long long finish over a minutes. A powerful but at the same time charming Shiraz. 95+ points.
