TN: 2003 Franz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Honivogl

One of my favorite Austrian producers which we visited in 2005. This is one of Hirtzberger's prime sites. The vines were replanted around 1985. 2nd time I have had this wine (as well as the 2002 and 2004 vintages) and this was showing even better than 6 years ago. This presents like a much younger wine than 19 years old but with the depth that age brings. Medium yellow color. Honey aromas without any petrol. Notes of white pepper and kiwi. Silky finish. 94 points.
