Blend of fruit from various vineyards, including Sanford & Benedict, Fiddlestix and Clos Pepe.
Color is dark, fairly opaque purple. Nose shows mainly dark cherry fruit along with hints of earth, pine, and spices. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with nice mouthfeel. Nicely delineated fruit flavors – dark cherries, some fleeting blackberry – show good concentration through the midpalate and into the finish. Sweet acidity and well-integrated tannin hold this well-balanced wine together through a moderate finish that hums along with hints of red licorice and nutmeg. Not a big bruiser of a California Pinot, this has good solid structure and a good core of fruit with subtle spice. A really nice Central Coast pinot blend…
I paid about $35 for the bottle.
