2002 Columbia Crest Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Columbia Valley, 14.1% alc.
93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot

Stumbled across this at the liquor store in Bellevue for only $21, so I grabbed one. Popped and poured. Nice purple-ish ruby. The nose started out a bit one-dimensional, but quickly opened up to show rich, coffee-scented black cherry and currant. Well-structured, with fine but present tannins. Peppery black currants, raspberries and cocoa powder. This gained weight after about an hour, but maintained some slightly drying tannins on the medium finish, suggesting that it could still benefit from a year or two of additional age. I'd recommend a 30 minutes decant now. Pretty darn good. 90 points
