- 2002 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (5/4/2005)
This is the first ’02 Bordeaux I have sampled. We did not have a chance to decant, so the wine was fairly impenetrable and tight. However, there are some promising notes of cedar, pencil lead, dark fruits and profound intensity. Not nearly as flashy or as accessible as the ’99 and ’00 vintages were upon release. This comes across as a sterner effort. Drink after 2012. 90-92P. (91 pts.)
