TN: 2001 Willi Schaefer Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett

I bought this wine for $15 when it was released. I brought it to Las Vegas when we met Pinot Envy 2 weeks ago and brought it to dinner to drink with salads and appetizers. Schaefer has an almost cultlike following in Germany. I have had the 2001 Graacher Dombprost Spatlese #5(94 points) and 2002 Graacher Dombprost Kabinett #11(91-92 points) within the last year.

Wonderful floral and apple aromatics. The flavors of this wine are framed by a fine slatiness. Notes of citrus and tropical fruits. Slightly sweet and not showing any signs of a dumb phase. Drinking well. Clean and pure finish. As usual, a fine offering from Schaefer. 91 points.
