TN: 2001 Sandrone Barbera D'Alba (Barbera D'Alba, Alba, Piedmont, Italy)

Thanks for the TN, Eric. The 2001 Barberas I've had tend to be brighter in acidity and less generous than the 2000s, and most of them have tested better the second day (the Sandrone 2001 included).

This leads me to believe that I should be drinking my 1999s and 2000s while the 2001s could use a little more time.

That sounds like great advice. Mmmm, speaking of 1999's, I *looooooove* the 1999 La Spinetta Barbera d'Alba Gallina, wowza!

My favorite Barbera, too.

I agree that the best '01s are too young right now. I also don't think '01 is as good a vintage as either of the preceding vintages. But, '03s should start being released in less than a year

The 1999 Gallina is my favorite Barbera of all time too. I still have 2 bottles left. I recently had the Barbera d'Asti Superiore 2000 and it was drinking very fine.

Can't wait for the 2003s!

Oh, I had a 2000 Gallina this weekend and it was nice. Losing some of it's baby fat, but still very good Barbera.
