  • 2001 Casisano-Colombaio Brunello di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (3/18/2007)
This was a very nice Brunello. We had it with a steak and potato supper. The fruit and tannis held up nicely throughout the meal. For $30 at Costco, I don't know if it's an everyday wine, but pretty good nonetheless. (88 pts.)

I can't remember where I tasted this and I didn't write it down. I think it was at La Crocina restaurant, just outside of Montalcino, which is excellent.

Dark purple-red colour. Not a typical sangio nose with black fruit and cocoa aromas. Full bodied, smooth and round with black cherry flavours on a good length finish. Silky tannins, this modern styled Brunello was very enjoyable and drinks well now. 91 points.
