2000 Marques de Caceres Reserva – Spain, Rioja (2/15/07)
Vibrant crimson in color. Nose of vanilla, chocolate, tobacco, leather, and strawberries. Flavors of cherries, plums, chocolate, and black licorice with an assertive acidity that makes this a good food wine. The tannins are well integrated and help provide a moderate length finish with remaining cherry and chocolate flavors. I find that Rioja at and above the Reserva classification is often times over-oaked but that is not the case here. The store that I frequent most often has this for $14 and at that price I would buy again. 13.5% alcohol.
