Maculan's top dessert wine. These currently sell for about $90 per half bottle. 100% Vespaiola hand selected from botrytis affected bunches. Aged 2 years in new barriques. Parker called this wine a "d'Yquem look alike" and "the pinnacle of sweet winemaking in Italy". This has 210 g/l of residual sugar. 200 cases made. We visited Fausto Maculan in 2000 so we saw these grapes growing which was cool to remember.

From 375ml. Dark amber color. Carmel aromas on the nose with a bit of green olives. Very unctuous and sweet but with biting acidity for balance. Notes of orange peels, burnt dark cocoa and coffee. Very concentrated. The only other bottle of this that I've had was the 1997 which was just as good but at a much younger age. 94-95 points.
