I have heard a lot of wonderful things about this wine, so when a friend of mine called me and said he was going to open a bottle I thought what the heck. My first concern was that this wine was going to be shut down here in January 2004.
There is something to be said about a french wine that has a significant amount of tannin but also the classic FRENCH Cab Franc nose. RP rates this wine 95pts and my rating is 1-2 pts less.
For those wondering, this wine is imported by LiquidLink out of Palos Verdes, California.
The predominant flavors of cassis, blackberry, plum and tobacco are beautifully meshed together at this point for a '00 Saint Emilion. This will age for the next 15 years and interestingly the wine poured directly from bottle (about 2 hours after opening) was more profound than the sample I had from the decanter. I would rate the nose 94 pts. and the body 92-93 pts. If I owned any I would open my next bottle in 2008.
For the people that own this, what did you pay for yours? It certainly is not an inexpensive wine. Thanks.
