2000 Château Léoville Barton - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (4/27/2013)

Decanted for 6 hours. 2nd time I have had this wine. Blackish red color. Graphite and tar on the nose. Much smoother than expected but this wine has some grip on the finish. Notes of roasted red fruit, raw meat and cassis. Delicious right now but this is also made for the long haul. Among the best Leoville Barton's I've ever had. 97 points.

2000 Château Léoville Barton - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (12/24/2016)

Decided to check in on this. Decanted for 4 hours. Moderately sedimented. Deep crimson color. Aromas of tar and graphite. Solid but approachable tannins. Notes of black currants, mint, roasted beef and tobacco. Smooth finish but slightly muted with softer tannins than expected. Similar notes on day 2. Hold. 93 points
