Was rummaging thru the cellar today and came across a couple of these.
First thing I noticed was a good bit of sediment along the bottom where it rested. Opened w/o decanting, and still a little cool from the cellar.
Color is extremely dark, almost black, with violet along the edges. Nose is a bit of sugary cedar and slightly muted dark fruit. On the pallate it's a bit dry, with chewy tannins, blackberries, and good, dark fruit. Finish is a bit short, but there is a subtle toffee flavor.
Definately one of the most rich and dense straight cab francs I've tried. Probably peaking, or just past. But nice to have something different to mix things up a bit.
I'd give it a score of 85 pts.
