This somer I found this wine in several enoteca in Tuscany. Likely a distributor clearing his stock.I know Sensi mainly for their various Chianti. And wasn't familiar with their Brunello. I'm not sure if its exported from Italy. I paid just eur23 for this bottle. Which is great value!

I had only one bottle of this wine and couldn't find any notes on it, so it was a bit of a guess when to open it. It turned out to be perfect timing!
I opened the bottle 6 hours before diner. Poured it into the shoulder and left the bottle open to slow-ox.

Ruby color with some hints of amber at the rim. Initially lots of barnyard on the nose. This blew off after 15 minutes. The wine opened up and showed blackcurrant, dark cherry and leather with some barnyard, mushrooms and wet earth evolving in the glass. Medium bodied with chewy-smooth tannins, some dark fruit and lots of fresh acidity on the palate. Seamlessly following trough to a long finish.

This wine is in great shape right now. It still has quite some structure left, but I don't think it will improve anymore. It has classic (aged) Brunello character. Perhaps not a truly great Brunello, but well worth the price I paid for it. Do give it a try if you can find some! (90 pts.)
