Dark purple color. Great aromas of tar, cigar box, pencil lead and black forest fruit. Definitely a classy Bordeaux. However, this wine is still too young on the palate. Blackberry, subtle cassis, and again the taste of tar/tobacco. Good concentration. It has good lenght (20 seconds) and doesn't feel heavy, but tannins are still rough which suggested that more aging (5+ years) is required. 91 points right now and will merit higher score in a next few years.

ps. I like the more extracted style of 1999 Ch. Monbousquet better in comparison.

Almost black in color. Soft aromas of cafe latte, upfront with blackberry hiding in the background turning to dark cherry on finish. This wine is fruit forward, quite sweet on attack, and intense with red fruit flavors. Despite it open 6 hours before serving, it still processes a wall of chewy tannin on finish. Drink much better now than a year ago. Already delicious today but could be kept for another decade. 92+ points.
