I bought a 500ml bottle of this Austrian dessert wine from the Wachau valley for $20 recently. Normally it retails for about $55 and only 220 cases of it were made. WS gave it 93 points. Emmerich Knoll is one of the premier winemakers in Austria. I have not had a dessert wine from him before but have enjoyed his 2000 Ried Loibenberg this last year. I took this to Las Vegas with me and opened it with Pinot Envy and HighDesertWine.
Surprisingly, this wine appeared to be in its prime. It was a golden yellow color with an interesting spicyness to it. Rather rich and lush with good minerality. It could have used a touch more acidity for my palate. Not over the top in the sweetness department. 91 points.
