Decided to open one of my few remaining '97 zins, based upon a recent thread started by Board-O suggesting that they be drunk up now.

Makor is based in Paso Robles. This is their most inexpensive offering (at $14). They also make an outstanding zin from the Westside Vineyard in PR for about $19.

Haven't tried this bottle in a couple years and was pleasantly surprised at the copious amount of fruit that was gushing from this wine. Tasted almost like strawberry jelly. Some vanilla and rhubarb nuances. Delicious with some barbecued pork chops. Much better than it was 2 years ago, but tannins were just about gone, so I think I caught it at its peak. Thanks, Board-O, for inspiring me to open this. 90 pts.

Cheers,

Otis
