1997 Joseph Swan Vineyards Zinfandel Stellwagen - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (3/26/2007)
Scubarex brought this bottle to the 6 course dinner at Zepplans home on Saturday. This wine was paired with the 2nd course which was a sharp-cheddar cream of potato soup topped with crumbled bacon and fresh chives. This was probably my favorite course. This soup made by Zepplans wife was fantastic. However, I did not think that a red wine was the best match for it. Although it was interesting to try this 10 year old Zin, time has not been kind to this bottle. It was very alcoholic. 14.7% alcohol. Allred thought it had a volatile acidity flaw. Showed signs of bricking and was cloudy. A stewed tomato flavor without much fruit. 78 points.
