TN 1996 Merryvale Profile Napa Valley

Lovely dark purple, medium bodied wine. Sweet, rich cherry aromas. Cherry, chocolate, blackberry preserves, with cedar and spice secondaries. I liked the wine a lot, but a relatively short, slightly bitter finish holds it back from a higher score. IMO, drinking at its peak now. 91 points.

Had this a while back with similar notes. The 1997 Profile is spectacular if you ever get the chance and drinking very well right now.

Had 97 Pahlmeyer and 97 Profile on the 4th of July. Thought the Profile was a nice wine but did not merit anywhere near the 97 point review for WS. The Pahlmeyer was in another league. Big, bright and delicious even though the wine scored a point lower form WS. My call is with Parker on this one.
