Opened by Jcubed at an offline. Clear garnet color. Beautiful old world character. An earthy texture with mineral, iron, cassis and leather notes. A smooth and round finish. First time I've had the 1996 but compared to the 1994, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2010 vintages I previously had this was right up there and surpassed only by the 2000. This was my red wine of the night. 96 points.
