This was the first vintage of Quintessa and Orlando served this blind. I guessed it was Rutherford fruit since I detected the typical "Rutherford Dust". When Orlando stated it was on Silverado Trail, I finally guessed Quintessa.

This was my first time drinking the '94. The nose was of currant, cedar and vanilla. The wine was smooth on the palate with silky tannins that were faintly in the background. The only thing that this wine lacked was a longer finish. I enjoyed it very much and would love to try it again. Against the Dalla Valle and the Dominus, this wine held its own. 93 points.

Opened and poured, no formal decanting. Nice nose of cedar & vanilla with a little hint of smoked wood. Very smooth, tannins in check, moderate fruit, more silky than rich. Very very short finish though. Once it's past the palate, it's gone!

Nice aged Cab but I don't see any improvement in further cellaring. May be a bit past its peak. I will be drinking my last bottle of this soon. 89-90pts.
