1967 Schloss Eltz Rauenthaler Wieshell Riesling Spätlese Cabinet - Germany, Rheingau (2/13/2007)

This was opened with the CRS during our dim sum brunch in chinatown in LA on Sunday. I believe that Flubis contributed this bottle. I'm not sure how good a vintage 1967 was and this was the first time I've had a German wine from that vintage. A few people at the table did not like this wine at all but I found a few redeeming qualities in it despite its shortcomings (which included being served too warm). Golden yellow color. It had a very nice pear nose. Good fruit for being so old. Notes of apricot and diesel. Little bit of an oily texture. Lacking acidity though. 79-80 points.
