Dark blood red/purple in color. This is not a mindblowing wine, but it's solidly constructed. Copious amounts of firm silky tannins. This really isn't showing the typical Foley youthful forwardness that many of his wines do. Notes of briary blackberry, bitter chocolate, espresso grounds, vanilla bean, and lots of toasty oak. Full bodied with a moderate/long finish full of silky, dusty tannin. This needs some time. 94+ pts.

I had it also a week or so back and too found it a little tighter than usual for Foley. I drank to 03 right after it was released and it seemed much more approachable. On the 04 there didn't seem to be as much upfront crushed berry fruit and the vanilla bean really came through on the silky finish. I though it was a great wine but needed a little time (95+).
