It was quite an affair of state last night. But, of course, the President is an expert at affairs.

Anyway, the dinner was obviously very expensive, with the special decorations, chair cushions, and the delicious meal. Taxpayers need not fret. The President declared, "Mexico is going to pay for it."

One of the attendees I sat with was Congressman Jim Bridenstine, who has been nominated to be the next head of NASA, the space agency. He's a Trump loyalist. I asked him what how he would carryout the President's agenda if he is confirmed, and he said that, as the head of NASA, he'll make sure that a principle mission of space exploration would be a regulation barring illegal aliens from coming here.

I understood that the menu was going to include caviar, a favorite of Monsieur Macron, but there was concern about claims of Russian collusion.
Speaking of Russian collusion, I was assured by my other seatmate, Sarah Palin, that there was no collusion. She reminded me that she can see Russia from her home and monitors it.

It was interesting to see the 1st couples. Donald Trump will be 72 in June, and Melania is only 47, a difference of 25 years. President Macron is 40 and his wife is 65, a difference of 25 years as well. As the French say, "Vive la difference." One thing about the 4 of them. Not one of them is fluent in English.

I asked someone (who requested anonymity) what Melania sees in Donald. I was told, "Wealth and high cholesterol."

As many know, the French President was around 15 or 16 when he met his bride to be who was a teacher at the Jesuit school he attended. She was married and they began an affair. Oh those crazy Jesuits!

Tonight is another state dinner for Macron.  Above are the posts from the prior one.

This year::

The appetizer course will include a butter-poached Maine lobster paired with California-sourced American oestra caviar.

The main course will be a calotte of beef (“calotte” refers to the cut of meat wrapped around the ribeye). The beef was sourced from farms in Iowa, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Virginia, complemented with a shallot marmalade.

The side dishes will be  Ohio-sourced micro carrots and Brussel sprouts.

Dessert: Orange chiffon cake joined with roasted pears and a crème fraîche ice cream.

There will be American cheeses for a cheese course including Oregon-based Rogue River Blue, and Humbolt Fog.

The wines:   2018 "Napa Valley" Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay, a 2019 "Knights Valley" Anakota Cabernet Sauvignon and a Roederer Estate Brut Rosé.

The President invited Representative Steve Scalise, Senator John Thune, and Congressman Kevin McCarthy, among notable Republicans. They were seated on the right side of the room.

Also in attendance were Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, James Clyburn and Stephen Breyer.  They were invited to make Biden look younger.

Kanye West and Nick Fuentes did not make the guest list.
