Steak Sandwiches ?

Almost any steak will work. I might not pick filet and opt for a more flavorful cut like ribeyes. You don;t want anything too tough, but if you slice it thin, it should be OK and not wind up tearing the bread. One of the best steak (beef) sandwiches I ever had was the grilled tri-tip at the Los Olivos Market.

I second the suggestion of ribeyes. Slice them very thin, and you'll have a delicious steak sandwich.

Don't forget a high-end cheese or a sauce. And you could always bring along a container of warm mushrooms or onions.

Marinated hanger steaks cooked whole to medium rare and then sliced thinly against the grain. Top with Dijon and fresh arugula on a toasted baguette.

ribeye is definitely the way to go. sliced thin, and the marbleization will melt the steak away.

Thanks for the suggestions! Ribeyes it will be. I thought the filets might be a little "bland" for the sandwich. Plan on bringing onions with butter, salt & garlic wrapped in foil to put on the grill to top the steaks.

I will differ here- tenderloin (filet mignon) sandwiches are excellent, but usually the tenderloin isn't grilled because it loses its fat on the grill and it's fairly lean to begin with. Bring some small rolls of something like a peasant bread and some horseradish sauce. Yummm

I'm with Bill. Done Flannery hangars at many-o-tailgates and they have been crowd pleasers, and down right delicious! Order some sliders as well just because you can. The best there is! -mJ

I was going to suggest the same thing. I've combined a little mayo with horseradish and it's damn good on a steak sandwich. Hopefully served up with a "W" for the Badgers, too.

I love Shirakiku wasabi mayonnaise on steak sandwiches. There's nothing else like it.
