St Clement Oroppas is one of the CA bordeaux blends I want to try. But, I don't know which vintages (from 1998 to 2004) are worth to try.

I am wondering how much beneficial to cellar this wine (if it ages well, aged wines would be better). Also, even if 2004 got 93 from WS, Gary at Wine Library prefer 03 to 04.

If anyone tried the wines and can give some comments on their vintages, it would be great.

Thanks for your help in advance.

THats it I am packing up a veritcal going out west and we will get to the bottom of this for once and for all.
Or I welcome your disagrement which is valid, wine is subjective and it it is not an exact science. I personally found the 02 to be i a very good spot (I think the 04) wil be in a better spot in a few years) butfor know I chose th 02 even the 04 hasmore potential. Not sure if that made sense, but I am a few glassses into it so....
I have not had vintages prior to 2004 so am unable to comment about those. However, I have had about 5 bottles of the 2004, which is very drinkable now, and each one of them was excellent. I think I still have about 6 more bottles and want to get some more for storage to see how well it ages. You can find them at around $40/bottle which gives it an excellent QPR. I'm hoping this wine does not make WS top 100 because I don't want the price to increase. If you can't tell, I LOVE the 04. Smile

Ditto what elden41 said. I've not had the pleasure of trying pre-2004 vintages but that '04 is a real gem in my opinion. Simply a delicious wine and a darn good QPR to boot.

BTW, if you fly into Portland, Oregon (PDX), there's a small, but quite nice wine bar there (forget the name) that's worth hanging out in if you have some extra time. That's where I first had the chance to try the '04 Oroppas. After a glass I knew it was something I wanted to purchase so I bought it right then and there.

It is a very good wine consistently. I have tasted the '01, '02, the '03, and the '04. I think the '04 is the most opulent of the four, and I completely disagree with the JL rating of the '01 (69 IIRC) as I have had the wine many times and never had a corked bottle....

Dom'n'Vin'sDad - How would you rate the '03 vintage? The reason I ask is because it's currently the only one available in any of the wine shops or Costco where I live. If I remember correctly, it didn't receive a very good score, which I admit has made me somewhat hesitant to purchase. That said, I try not to place too much emphasis on the ratings/scores, so your opinion would be most appreciated.
