Sonoma Winery Picnic

Wife and I will be travelling from SF to Napa (Carneros Inn) on Friday. We'd like to visit a winery near the town of Sonoma for some wine tasting and a picnic lunch. Any suggestions for a nice winery with nice picnic facilities would be appreciated. In general, I favor low key, value wineries. Thanks.

Near Healdsburg, I'd go to Dry Creek Winery. It's got a beautiful, shaded site for picnics.

St. Jean, just up the road in Kenwood, has a nice lawn with picnic tables. My family often stops there. Landmark, also in Kenwood, has a lovely picnic area, too. At least they used to.

By far the prettiest place to picnic would have to be at the Viansa winery. I always try to have lunch there when visiting the wine country.

Not sure if you can picnic there but the most beautiful winery I have been to in Sonoma is Ferrari-Carano. Might be a little further to go but if you haven't been there it's worth the trip.

I'll agree that Ferrari-Carano is the most beautiful winery in Sonoma, but I don't think there are any picnic facilities there.

Matanzas Creek Winery in Santa Rosa... great wine and excellent for a picnic... a little off the beaten path though... gut-luck!

i'll 2nd board-o's recommendation of dry creek - it's a nice place for a little picnic and if i remember correctly, there is a little roadside grocery store just up the road with some killer vittles
