But surely there must be sources to buy at least one bottle for one's collection

They're out there is you have or are willing to spend the secondary market premium. Like Mike said winecommune or I have seen complete lots and single bottles on winebid.

IMO, this is not a wine that will ever be worth it after it's been distributed to it's primary mailer customers unless someone is willing to give you one for at or near cost - which probably will never happen.

VinFolio in San Francisco sent out an email last week with a number of vintages of Screaming Eagle. Check them out if you're looking for bottles.

Fly to southeast Florida and dine at Cafe L'Europe in Palm Beach. They have verticals of mags and double mags- very impressive just to look at. Be ready for lots of digits on the tab.

You will have to find it in the secondary market. Expect to pay around $1,0000. It's now $500 to buy from the list.

A quick winesearcher pro look showed way more than $1K, at least at retail - cheapest retail was about $1600; there were two auction bottles showing at 8 and 9 hundred, but I bet they go for more (all $USD).
