Not sure what the criteria was for the pink states, although it looks like recent anti-choice legislation may be one filter.  There are many other states which should be on the list, including my neighbor WVA if dumbfuckery is the definition.

Yes... there are MANY wonderful people in all these states. My recent travels through the southeast has reinforced this in my mind without a doubt.

Most of these states also have awful, restrictive state governments.  Saying that there are good people in the US, and ignoring all the horrid things that many others do and believe, is TYPICAL Faux News simplification and misdirection.  It's not a zero sum argument.

pinotlvr, quick question; is Washington DC pink and therefore the capitol of Dumbfuckistan, or just red... and embarrassing?

PH, you are correct, the pink area represents just the recent anti-choice legislation for those states...either heartbeat bill or both heartbeat bill and without rape/incest exception. I had to include TN even though they passed a trigger bill that only kicks in with changes in federal law, because well they are surrounded and also...hey, it’s TN...and I can’t stand Vol fans lol.

if the point was pure dumbfuckery then, yes, more would be included.  Of course DC would always be included I mean even if the resident in the whit house was different, Congress has been inept for as long as I can remember.

I would love to see Kamala Harris debate 45, although I'm sure it would be so one sided you couldn't even call it a debate.

Can't wait for these debates either.  Should be great fun.  Not worried about any of these Democratic candidates.  Free health care for all Illegals and it is no longer a crime to cross the border illegally.  Definitely heading in the right direction.

Can you provide evidence that any, never mind all of the candidates said they supported free health care for all illegals?  Links to sources please.

Also, no country that is a signatory to the UN Refugee Convention considers it a crime for refugees seeking asylum to cross borders to safe countries anywhere they can.

It was a sweeping generalization.  In more of a reference to Kamala who agreed to that.  Some of the others did not.  But I believe for the most part, all raised their hand that it should be a civil offense.  You are not a refugee for wanting to move to a better country.  And you are to seek safe refuge in the first country you land in...not pass through to the country of your choice.

Not exactly. Refugees seeking asylum are supposed to claim asylum in the first SAFE country they enter. Mexico hardly qualifies, especially since many are fleeing criminal violence, much of which is perpetrated by Mexican gangs.

Did I mention that I was a visa officer for 30 years, six of which were in Central America, most recently in Guatemala 2010-2012?

what of the refugees from Syria that crossed 10-15 borders to get to germany where it was safe, and jobs.

Great example of the safe country concept.  This, from the UNHCR website, explains the concept further:

""a refugee/asylum-seeker may be returned to the country of first asylum if the person:

  • can enter and remain there,
  • is protected there against refoulement and is treated in accordance with basic human standards,
  • will not be subject there to persecution or threats to safety and liberty,
  • has access to a durable solution"

In the case at hand the country of first asylum would be Mexico, which I'm not sure could tick any of the boxes above, certainly not the third one.

Bman...you are obviously qualified to speak on the subject.  I think you just called Mexico a “shithole” country though!  The current immigration policy is a joke.

Not at all, Mexico is wonderful.  But it is not safe for refugees attempting to make a life there, as the rule of law doesn't apply and cops are worse than criminals in many places.  And current US immigration policy is a joke in some respects but probably not the ones you are referring to.  Signatories to the UN Refugee Convention have certain obligations, which are the basis of most of the criticisms I see of US immigration policy, from the right at least.  Criticisms from the left tend to be that the US is not meeting those obligations.  And of course refugee policy is just one of many areas of immigration policy.  It's complicated!

I wouldn’t fault attendees in general, as I’m sure many families planned for the parade and fireworks before the ignorant lowlife hijacked it. We had a friend get married in Maryland on July 3, 2011 and took advantage of being in the region to be in D.C. on Independence Day. Despite the swamp weather we had a great time.

Good post.  I watched it...nothing at all wrong with the speech...quite the contrary.  Read the Declaration again today. What a great country!    How do some of you find fault with everything?  Have a glass wine and enjoy!
