yes, obtained here in the US. she would have never have made it here without a PhD with today's immigration laws.
As of 2018, due to this and previous 3 administrations (after 9/11) we have one of the toughest immigration laws in the world. Basically, almost no one gets citizenship legally but they're still suppose to be able to come to this country and try to obtain citizenship.
You want to see the eventual outcome of that tight immigrations where no one is allowed in? Look at japan. A dying, aging population that is going to lag China as the super power.

What is you solution to the Illegals coming here, being smuggled in, with children / without children or coming on their own?
It's called a proper comprehensive immigration reform.
You have two sides, one that says we should have immigration with proper limits and one that's a hardline, No immigrants period. I can tell you that the no immigrants camp is being completely unreasonable.
This country was founded on immigrants. We are culturally diverse, we utilize the plethora of ideas and cultures to make this country better, everybody has something they can offer a country when they make the potentially extremely dangerous journey to come to the country of opportunity.
Proper immigration can be tied to things like large scale infrastructure programs where you get the opportunity to gain citizenship and a salary once you come here to help build and upgrade our aging infrastructure then settle in uninhabited parts of america. Proper immigration can be tied to more appropriate "trial" periods where if they're hard working and a member of their community, they should get a fair shot at becoming a citizen. There are soo many things I can list that can be part of a comprehensive immigration package, I'm not sure why one group insists that "No one gets in" is the proper way to go forward.
And I'll reiterate Napacat, that our respective families would never have made it in to this country with today's immigration laws.

The hegemony of white males is increasingly threatened by the influx of immigrants, many of whom are persons of color, into American society, and the ascension of minorities, and women, into prominent leadership roles.
The percentages are changing; and the fear of that change is one of the primary reasons we find ourselves in the current situation.

Napa,
I’m genuinely confused and won’t go ad hominem. Facts aren’t BS. Both legal and illegal immigrants are far less likely to commit murder than are natural born citizens. That’s true. So why is it relevant that in history it has happened? We have a rapidly aging population and “replacing” the older generations with immigrants instead of natural born Americans would actually make the country much safer, not less safe. So I ask again, why parade out a few families whose lives have been upended when we know that based upon our current immigration laws, immigrants are more likely to be nonviolent than natural born Americans? What possible reason is there? If you can think of a reason that is not fear-mongering / stupidity / xenophobia / “squirrel!” / scapegoating / intentionally adding to and exacerbating racism I would love to read it.
Immigration is a complicated issue. And especially for dreamers (and immediate family members who have been here for decades) we must find a way to protect those who are nonviolent functionally American. There is a lot more to be said. And considered. (I’m slowly coming around on very strict regulation with government monopoly — but legaliation — of heroine/cocaine/etc.) It would take months to write about the nuances and complexities of the matter. And compromises will have to be reached. And I hope one day we can have a clear eyed comprehensive immigration reform...
But here’s the ugliness: immigration is already not really a problem. Under Obama, for natural born citizens, it was already not a problem. For our national security, it was already not a problem. For our standing in the world, our standard of life, it was already not a problem. When Trump took office the only people in this country with a legitimate primary gripe about our immigration policy were the immigrants. Obama era immigration laws and enforcement were less of a threat than the diminishing bee population. So why are we even talking about this? Racism. Xenophobia. Scapegoating. “Squirrel!”

Out of the park, winetarelli.
This is where the discussion began, and I want to make sure we're all clear on this in case anyone missed it; napacat said he supported this abomination. Because they were "illegal." Babies cannot be illegal. And to even put those words down is just abominable.
Additionally, 2017 statistics on illegal border crossings show that they were at a 46 year low.
Secure borders make sense, but sensationalizing it to the extent that trump has, and supporting propaganda from the cult, like Mike Huckabee's obscene tweet of apparent gang members as Nancy Peolsi's campaign committee add fuel to the fire.
It's 100% about racism, xenophobia, misdirection and pandering to low information voters to prop up a failing administration that is flailing in almost every facet of it's existence.
PH
Former15 and PH, you all are playing chess while Napa is still reading the rules for checkers.
Obviously the conversation has been singularly focused on the children, not immigration reform. This said, when the facts are not in your favor, play the shell game like Napatroid and Trump. Everyone statistically in this forum has a 5X greater chance of being attacked by a citizen of the USA than by some illegal person. Yet, Trump and his cult like Napatroid want to play the shell game with some reality TV stunt that was just so embarrassingly presented.
Trump has no moral compass, period.

“Squirrel!”
Oh, and also, the dude ripped children out of their parents arms and put them in motherfucking cages!
How do you extrapolate that this is about immigration. It is about illegal immigration. No problem with immigration... I’m a second generation child of immigrant grandparents.
It it is a complicated issue for sure. Catch and release is a ridiculous policy. Trump, I imagine is trying to get control of the situation unlike Obama who kind of ignored it ( but also had kids in cages during his term in office)...granted not the same numbers.
i think it is very fair to ask what others have for a solution rather just screaming racist! What happened to Sarah Sanders the other night was just wrong.

Nonsense, government works for people, not the other way around.
She's a spokesperson for a big chunk of government organization. She says shit that private citizens dont like? Then private citizens have EVERY right to deny them in their privately owned establishment.
It's entirely hypocritical for folks to say "oh but we can deny a gay couple because of religious beliefs" then cry because someone who doesnt believe in this adminstration, denies service to a government employee.
Last I checked being a government employee is not a protected class unlike race, sex, age and sexual orientation

More BS from you. Go ahead and paint everyone who disagrees with you a racist. Instead of answering the question I posed to regarding a solution.
But carry on...
Napa,
I’m genuinely confused and won’t go ad hominem.

Napa,
You didn’t answer my question. Under Obama era immigration laws and enforcement “illegal immigrants” are far less likely to commit violence than natural born citizens. So why did Trump parade the families of a few victims?
What is the specific threat posed by Obama era regulations that was so great you were fine taking 8 month old babies out of their mothers’ arms, putting them in cages thousands of miles away, and not telling the parents where their children are? Please provide evidence of whatever threat you reference.
Sarah Sanders supports policies of crulty, she is a professional liar for an abominable human. And I agree, we shouldn’t be kicking people out of restaurants based upon their political affiliations or professions. I understand the emotional response. But she should not have been kicked out. And why on Earth did you bring this up? And do you think Sarah’s inconvenience is in line with the 2500 children’s? Or their parents? Are these equivalent things to you?
