Damn, I never knew that it was Canada that burned down our White House! You are damn right we need these tariffs against Canada.

Trump, it is far better to be thought of as a complete idiot and fool than to ever open your mouth  only to confirm you are indeed.

We are clearly a threat to the US........

Jcock, that is just it. I don’t think the change was an effort to improve the site. It was forced on them and it appears they had little time to research their options unfortunately.

The forum was severely antiquated IMO prior to this change and the current forum is easily the worst I visit/ participate.

Can someone explain why WS had to comply with the Euro GPDA?  And only the forums seciton?  Is it due to having users in Europe able to post?

Seems ridiculous.

My understanding is that if EU citizens were using a given website it was necessary to comply or face stiff penalties or a requirement that EU citizens be blocked.

Thank you Bman.  Now...how many EU posters did we have?  Presume then it was the website in general and not just the forum section.  It is a U.S. based company, if anyone from the outside wants to participate you follow U.S. laws.  That kind of regulation seems to be an overstep.

There's no way EU forum websites are this bad.

There used to be lots of European posters, not so much now - to name a few off the top of my head:

Killer B, Ronnie Roots, Stevie Cage, Birgundy (when he lived there), GlennK had a stint in London I think.  Many others

And I'm not sure it matters how many, the issue as I understand it (and I could certainly be wrong) is that you either comply or lock your website out of reach of anyone in the EU (or face penalties), a process that I would think would be pretty expensive though my knowledge of tech is not much.

As for the fact that WS is a US company, these days extra-territorial over-reach is pretty common.  No points for guessing which country probably leads the world in that regard!

I think it's more that this is a habit for a lot of people and once you don't do it for a week or so you get out of the habit. We never noticed when one person was on vacation and took a month later to surface but when we all do it it becomes stagnation. It's compounded by the fact that when the one person comes back there is something new for them to dive into. There is nothing new on this site because we're all off of it.

We need a big strong, somewhat divisive tread that is actually about wine that we're all posting and looking at then it's habit again and we're back rolling.

What would be really good right now was if a couple of the writers were active a little. Molesworth talking about something or at least chiming in etc...
